A cash or check line labeled offline is not a dead-zone field app. This page records what six vendor help and marketing pages published about offline stop work, sync after reconnect, published limits, and plan gates as of 2026-09-20. No ranked winner. We have not tested these apps.
Scout brief (2026-09-20): Primary pages only. Skimmer help and QnA publish a native app that keeps stop work when signal is gone: complete stops, readings, photos, checklists. Sync Zone uploads later. Photos may finish separately. Do not confuse Offline Payments (cash or check) with offline mode. Pool Brain home and features say the app works with no signal and syncs job data when signal returns. Help: first sync needs a connection, then the tech can use the app offline without a login. POM page HTML lists Offline mobile access. The fetched visible features and pricing body did not repeat work-without-internet or offline-first. Paythepoolman home and features: GAP. Poolside FAQ: complete stops, photos, and log service without a signal, then sync. Home: dead zones. Jobber help is partial: notes and checklists queue; the day’s schedule can be a read-only prefetch; location timers need data. No winner.
What offline mode means here
Verified fact: Help pages beat marketing copy when they conflict. “GAP” or “not claimed” means the cited page does not make the claim. It is not proof the feature is absent.
Offline field work claimed. A published sentence that the technician app stays usable with no cell or Wi-Fi for core stop work. A live GPS map, a customer app, or a cash payment labeled “offline” is not that.
What works offline. Only the steps the cited page names: readings, dosages, photos, checklists, signatures, invoices, or other named work. A slogan next to a feature list is not a proof that every bullet works without signal.
Sync when online. Published queue, upload, or sync-after-reconnect language. “Keep the field and office in sync” as a slogan is not a reconnect story.
Known limits. Published caveats: maps or payments need data, photos upload separately, a schedule is read-only, notes are lost if the app is force-closed, or a first sync must finish online. Unpublished limits stay GAP.
Plan gate. Which paid plan those claims sit on. Unpublished gates stay GAP.
Published pricing floor. A list price on a cited pricing or home page. A promo, a custom plan, or a per-tech component is not a full monthly floor.
Units stay on the solo-operator guide, the small-team guide, and the pricing guide. Category cards: /best/offline-mode.
Editorial judgment: Buy the phone behavior you will hit behind a block wall. A marketing “works offline” line will not replace the named steps, the sync rule, and the published limits.
Published claims (2026-09-20)
Verified fact: Help, features, and pricing pages checked 2026-09-20. GAP cells are unpublished on those pages, not guessed.
| Product | Offline field work claimed | What works offline | Sync when online | Known limits | Plan gate | Published pricing floor |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skimmer | YES: native app holds service data with low or no signal | YES: complete stops, log readings, take live photos, swipe checklists | YES: auto upload when signal or Wi-Fi returns; Sync Zone Perform Sync | Photos can upload after the issue record. Live photos only, not camera roll. Do not read Offline Payments as offline mode | Offline-mode gate unpublished on pricing. | Pool Brain | YES: technician app works offline with no signal | GAP: no named list of readings, photos, invoices, or signatures on the cited pages | YES: automatically syncs job data when it has good signal | First use: one online sync of customer data and settings, up to 5 minutes. After that, offline without a login | All features; no separate offline tier | GAP for a full monthly floor. $65 per active field tech only |
| POM | PARTIAL: page HTML lists Offline mobile access. Visible features body did not say offline-first. Visible pricing did not say work without internet | GAP: photos, GPS, chemicals, and checklists are listed as field tools, not as offline steps | GAP: “keep the field and office in sync” is not a reconnect queue | GAP | Complete suite; no per-feature offline add-on | $125 first user + $25 each additional. Growth $59.99. Pro $99.99. Enterprise Custom |
| Jobber | PARTIAL: help publishes limited offline. Pool, features, and pricing pages retrieved here did not claim a dead-zone stop app | YES, limited: text notes and attachments; checklist updates; timers that are not location-based | YES: notes wait to sync; checklists finish syncing on reconnect; timer data syncs when internet returns | Prefetched schedule can be read-only. Visit timers on that article need internet. Location timers need internet (Grow). Notes waiting to sync are lost if you log out, delete, force close, or update the app | Checklists on select plans. Location timers on Grow. Notes-offline gate unpublished | Core 1-user $49 / $39 / $29 (no-commit / 1-year / annual) |
Product notes
Skimmer. The offline QnA says techs can complete stops, log readings, and take photos with no signal, swipe checklist items finished, and that data uploads when cellular or Wi-Fi returns. Live photos still cannot come from the camera roll. FAQ (updated 2026-08-25) calls it a native app that holds service data when signal is low or gone, then uploads when signal is good. Sync Zone help (updated 2026-09-18) adds automatic periodic sync and a manual Perform Sync, plus a Primary Device for Route toggle. Issues FAQ: photos sync separately from the issue record; if the device was offline or weak at sync time, the photo may still be uploading. Technicians repeats “the app works offline” and “sync when you’re back online.” The same page’s quote-and-signature copy does not say those steps work without signal. Pricing lists Offline Payments as cash, check, or other. That is not offline mode. An offline-mode plan gate is unpublished. Floors: Getting Started $1.00 per serviced location, starts at $49/month with 49 included; Scaling Up $2.00, starts at $98 with 49 included.
Pool Brain. Home lists “Works offline with no signal” on the technician app. Features repeats that the app does not need a username, password, or cell signal, and “automatically and securely syncs job data to the cloud whenever it has good signal.” Those pages do not name readings, photos, invoices, or signatures as offline steps. Setting up technicians says the tech can use the app offline without logging in if they get kicked out, after an MEID link. First use syncs customer data and settings, “up to 5 minutes,” and needs the app left open until that finishes. Pricing is titled all features included and publishes $65 per active field technician. The full monthly total is a GAP. Do not write $65 × 1 as a solo plan price.
POM. Fetched home, features, pricing, and free trial HTML include Offline mobile access in the published feature list. The visible features body lists the whole field day, photo proof, GPS check-ins, chemical entry, required checklists, and parts usage. It does not call those steps offline-first on the HTML retrieved 2026-09-20. Visible pricing says mobile apps keep techs productive: clock in, run the route, submit the visit. It does not repeat “work without internet” on that fetch. A reconnect queue is unpublished. Every account is the complete suite; no offline add-on is named. Floor: $125 first user, $25 each additional, QuickBooks +$25.
Paythepoolman. Home and features publish billing, GPS trails, Task Hub, the Plus payroll app, and Pool Junction. Offline field work, named offline steps, and sync-after-reconnect are not claimed on those fetches. A live GPS trail is not an offline app. Floor on home: $50/month + $15 per technician ($65 at one tech).
Poolside. Home, pricing, features, and FAQ publish the same field-app sentence: the app “keeps running in dead zones, then syncs the moment they’re back online,” plus a Works offline bullet. FAQ answers “Does the technician app work offline?” with complete stops, capture photos, and log service without a signal, then automatic sync when back in range. Home lists today’s route, customer details, chemical readings, photos, and field quotes next to that bullet. Treat the FAQ sentence as the named offline steps. Do not promote every sibling bullet to a proven offline step. An offline plan gate is unpublished. List floors: Starter $29.99 (1 tech, 50 customers), Growth $59.99, Pro $99.99, Enterprise Custom. First-month 50% off is a promo, not the floor.
Jobber. Help is the file. Notes (updated 2026-09-17): an offline banner, notes and attachments save locally with “Waiting to sync until online,” then sync when the connection returns and the app is open. If you log out, delete, force close, or update the app while a note is waiting, the note is lost. Checklists store updates in low-connectivity or offline locations and finish syncing on reconnect. That article says checklists are on select plans. Schedule in the app: the day’s visits and tasks are prefetched on a good connection and stored until logout or a full close. In poor connection you get a read-only version of your schedule. That same article says visit timers cannot start or stop without internet. Location timers (Grow plan) need an active internet connection to start or stop automatically. Timers that are not location-based “continue to work in all network conditions, including offline,” and sync when internet returns. Keep both timer sentences in view. Pool, features, and pricing pages retrieved here did not publish a dead-zone stop-app claim. Invoices, card payments, and signatures as offline steps are GAP on the cited help. Pricing Core 1-user floors: $49 no-commit, $39 on a 1-year commitment, $29 billed annually.
Fit notes (not a ranking)
These are operating-model notes against the table. Seed profiles are linked.
Need a published no-signal stop app. Skimmer, Pool Brain, and Poolside publish that. POM publishes the feature name Offline mobile access without the visible how-it-works sentences on this fetch. Jobber publishes limited help, not a full dead-zone route app. Paythepoolman: GAP.
Need named offline steps (readings, photos, checklists). Skimmer names stops, readings, photos, and checklists. Poolside FAQ names complete stops, photos, and log service. Jobber names notes, attachments, and checklist updates. Pool Brain, POM, and Paythepoolman do not name those steps as offline on the cited pages.
Need a published reconnect / upload story. Skimmer, Pool Brain, Poolside, and Jobber publish one. POM and Paythepoolman: GAP.
Need the published limits in writing. Skimmer: photos can lag; live camera only. Pool Brain: first sync online. Jobber: read-only schedule, timer caveats, notes lost on force-close. Poolside, POM, and Paythepoolman: GAP on limits.
Need the customer to pick the slot, or an office calendar. Those stay on the scheduling guide. GPS trails stay on the GPS tracking guide.
Seat versus location math: Jobber vs Skimmer. Location versus technician: Skimmer vs Pool Brain. Per-user versus location: Pool Office Manager vs Skimmer. Technician-and-customer-cap versus per-tech: Pool Brain vs Poolside. Cap versus base-plus-tech: Poolside vs Paythepoolman.
Questions before you sign
- On my plan, which of the six claims are in writing: offline field work, named offline steps, sync after reconnect, known limits, plan gate, pricing floor?
- Which stop steps work with no cell: readings, dosages, photos, checklists, signatures, invoices, payments?
- For Skimmer: is Offline Payments (cash or check) being sold to me as offline mode, and do issue photos finish after the stop record?
- For Pool Brain: what is the written monthly total besides $65 per active field tech, and did the first app sync finish on a connection?
- For POM: which page besides the Offline mobile access line names the offline steps and the reconnect rule on my account?
- For Paythepoolman: where is offline field work in writing, if it exists?
- For Poolside: which of the home bullets (readings, quotes, notes) are in the FAQ offline answer, and which are only siblings?
- For Jobber: is today’s list a read-only prefetch, and which timers work without data on my plan?
- For every product: what is lost if the phone dies or the app is force-closed before sync?
What we are not claiming
We have not stood in a dead-zone yard. We are not naming a winner. We are not treating a missing claim as proof a feature is absent. We are not treating a cash Offline Payment, a GPS trail, or a customer app as offline field work. We are not equating Skimmer Offline Payments with Skimmer offline mode. We are not inventing Pool Brain offline readings, photos, invoices, or a $65 solo plan. We are not treating POM’s feature-list name as a how-to, or restoring older without-internet sentences that the 2026-09-20 fetch did not show. We are not inventing Paythepoolman offline. We are not promoting every Poolside home bullet to a proven offline step. We are not collapsing Jobber’s notes, checklists, read-only schedule, and two timer articles into one “works offline” line.
Ask for the six claims in writing on your plan, then complete one stop with the radio off and watch the sync, if the vendor publishes both. One-person shops: solo-operator guide. 2–5 techs: small-team guide. Units: pricing guide. Chemistry: chemical tracking guide. Routes: route optimization guide. GPS: GPS tracking guide. Communication: customer communication guide. Invoices: invoicing guide. Scheduling: scheduling guide. $0 models: free software guide. Category list: /best/offline-mode.
