Pool Service Software with Chemical Tracking

What vendors published about reading logs, LSI calculators, dosing recommendations versus auto-dosing, meter integrations, customer chem reports, and plan gates as of 2026-09-28. No winner.

By PoolProStack editorial team · Updated September 28, 2026

A reading log is not an LSI calculator, and a dosing recommendation is not auto-dosing. This page records what vendor primary pages published about that four-layer stack (log, LSI, dosing rec versus auto, meter sync), plus customer chem reports and plan gates, as of 2026-09-28. This page does not rank a winner. We have not tested these apps. We do not earn commissions from these vendors.

The retired category URL /best/chemical-tracking 301s here. Other /best/* lists stay. Subscription meters stay on the solo-operator guide and the small-team guide. Meter math is Skimmer vs Pool Brain. Seat versus location is Jobber vs Skimmer. Technician-plus-base versus location is Paythepoolman vs Skimmer. Technician-and-customer-cap versus location is Poolside vs Skimmer. Headcount versus technician-and-customer-cap is Pool Brain vs Poolside. $0 models are on the free software guide. Sync direction is on the QuickBooks guide.

Four chemistry layers that are not the same

Verified fact: Vendor pages use “chemical tracking” for different jobs. A product that logs a number has not claimed an LSI calculator. A product that recommends a dose has not claimed auto-dosing. “Not claimed” on this page means the cited primary page does not make the claim. It is not proof the feature is absent.

1. Reading and dosage logs. The tech types or stores pH, chlorine, and what was added. That is a record.

2. LSI calculator. The app computes a Langelier Saturation Index from those readings. Orenda is one branded calculator. A Before/After LSI display that never names Orenda is still an LSI claim. A Lowry formula claim is still an LSI claim.

3. Dosing recommendations versus auto-dosing. A recommendation shows a suggested amount. Auto-dosing, as Pool Brain documents it, auto-fills that amount and requires the tech to confirm. Those are not the same claim.

4. Meter integration. A LaMotte Spin Touch, ColorQ, or similar meter sends readings in. A “Bluetooth coming” line is not a shipped meter.

Two buying extras sit beside that stack:

5. Customer-facing chem reports. A portal, Service Email, or visit report that can show readings or dosages to the homeowner. An internal log is not that.

6. Plan gates. Which of the claims sit on the cheap plan, a paid tier, or every plan.

Editorial judgment: Pick the claim you actually need before you compare monthly cost. A cheaper subscription that only stores numbers will not replace an LSI step you run on every stop.

Product notes (not a ranking)

These are claim notes against the table. Directory vendor profiles are linked, including Poolside. PSS, Pool Founder, ProBase, and BlueRoute are not listed in the directory yet. No ranked winner.

Skimmer. Getting Started documents readings and dosages. The technician page says a Service Email can include readings, dosages, checklist items, tech names, and photos. Orenda LSI, dosing recommendations, and LaMotte sit on Scaling Up ($98/mo floor) and Enterprise, not Getting Started. That is a recommendation workflow, not Pool Brain-style auto-dose. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

Pool Brain. Public pricing is All Features Included at $65 per active field technician; the picker starts at 5; do not invent a 1-tech monthly total. The features page documents readings that trigger a dosage, chem use and cost history, a customer portal, and proof-of-service emails. The Orenda page says the calculator is natively integrated, predicted LSI updates as you adjust targets, amounts auto-fill, and the technician must confirm what was added. The Spin Touch page documents one-tap import and color-coded edit history. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

POM. The chemical calculator documents instant dosage from entered readings and a Before/After LSI calculator. It does not use the Orenda brand. The same page still printed “Bluetooth Coming Spring 2024” on 2026-09-28. Treat that as stale coming copy, not a shipped LaMotte integration. Pricing is $125 first user + $25 each additional, QuickBooks Online +$25/mo. There is no published chemistry upsell tier. Activation-fee language is not on the live pricing page; we do not invent waived or charged. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

Paythepoolman. The features page claims pool measurements and automated chemical billing. Orenda (measurements, dosage recommendations, automatic LSI) and LaMotte SpinTouch are now worded “Included with Plus” (prior “FREE with …” copy is gone). Plus is still undefined on the fetched home and features pages. This page does not invent a Plus price. Base floor is $50 + $15 per technician. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

Jobber. The pool industry page documents field chemicals and usage. LSI, Orenda, and LaMotte are not claimed there. Jobber’s separate chemical-tracking feature page is pesticide / application-log framing. Do not equate that page with pool water-balance LSI. Seat floors stay on the small-team guide. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

PSS. poolservice.software documents reading and dosage history, dosage costing, Lowry LSI at every stop, and visit reports that can show readings and dosages. LaMotte SpinTouch and ColorQ 2x are claimed via Bluetooth. Orenda appears as an in-app help-desk ticket, not an in-app Orenda Calculator brand. Paid bands publish All Features Included. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

Pool Founder. The chemistry update documents field readings, automatic LSI, trend history, AI dosage recommendations, and optional portal visibility. Pricing puts water chemistry on all plans (Team $99 ≤3; Growth $179 ≤6). Meter import is not claimed; manual any kit, no proprietary hardware. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

Poolside. The home lists chemical readings in the technician app and branded service reports. Word-boundary LSI, Orenda, and LaMotte are not claimed. Cap versus location: Poolside vs Skimmer. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

ProBase. The water-testing page still claims a reading / chem log. LSI is still “Coming soon” on that FAQ and roadmap / not in the current build on What is ProBase. Free product; LSI is not a paid unlock. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

BlueRoute. Cite features and pricing for LSI calculator + chemical tracking at $0/mo (vendor claim; processing-funded). Orenda and LaMotte are not claimed. Features meta still says “chemical dosing”; treat dosing depth as Partial/Rec. The free-software blog no longer carries the older exact-dosing-rec wording after its rewrite; do not revive that line from memory. (Retrieved 2026-09-28.)

Questions before you sign

  1. On my plan, which of the four layers are in writing: log, LSI, dose recommendation or auto-dose, meter sync?
  2. If I stay on the cheapest plan, which of those claims move to a higher tier?
  3. For Skimmer: am I on Getting Started or Scaling Up, and does my Service Email include readings and dosages?
  4. For Pool Brain: does auto-dose auto-fill on my workflow, and what exactly appears on the proof-of-service email? What is the written monthly total at my tech count (picker starts at 5)?
  5. For POM: is Bluetooth meter import shipped, or is “Coming Spring 2024” still the live line? Confirm any activation terms in writing.
  6. For Paythepoolman: what does Plus include, and what does it cost in writing?
  7. For Jobber: is there an LSI or meter workflow in writing on the pool page, or only field chemicals / a pesticide application log?
  8. For PSS, Pool Founder, Poolside, ProBase, and BlueRoute: which chemistry steps work offline?

We are not inventing a POM activation waived or charged line. We are not inferring Poolside LSI. We are not treating Jobber’s pesticide chemical-tracking feature page as pool LSI. We are not inventing BlueRoute Orenda/LaMotte claims or restoring retired free-blog exact-dosing wording. We are not treating ProBase LSI as shipped.
