Jobber is general field-service software with a pool industry page. Skimmer is pool-specific software billed per serviced location. Those units are not interchangeable, so this page does not name a cheaper product or a winner. Figures are from vendor pages checked 2026-09-04. We have not tested either app.
Two products
Verified fact: Jobber is general field-service software. It publishes a pool service software industry page. That page is marketing for a general FSM, not a pool-native spec.
Verified fact: Skimmer markets to pool companies. Public pricing is built around recurring pool stops, not mixed home-service trades.
See each Jobber and Skimmer profile for documented functions, still without a field test.
How you pay
Verified fact: Skimmer bills per serviced location per month, not per visit and not per technician. Skimmer pricing, 2026-09-04. Multiple bodies of water at one address count as one location. Technician count is not the meter. The page states unlimited techs.
| Plan | What the page publishes |
|---|---|
| Getting Started | $49/mo including 49 serviced locations, then $1/mo per additional location |
| Scaling Up | $98/mo including 49 serviced locations, then $2/mo per additional location |
| Enterprise | Custom |
Worked examples use only the published formula. Getting Started at 1–49 locations is $49. Scaling Up at 1–49 is $98. Scaling Up above the floor is $98 + (locations − 49) × $2.
| Serviced locations | Plan used | Published math | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–49 | Getting Started | Floor price | $49 |
| 1–49 | Scaling Up | Floor price | $98 |
| 80 | Scaling Up | $98 + (80 − 49) × $2 | $160 |
| 150 | Scaling Up | $98 + (150 − 49) × $2 | $300 |
Verified fact: The Skimmer help FAQ confirms the same floor formula at 80 locations: about $80 on Getting Started and about $160 on Scaling Up. That is confirmation of the published math, not a third promo.
Verified fact: Jobber bills per seat. Live Jobber pricing for 1 user, 2026-09-04:
| Plan (1 user) | No commitment | 1-year monthly | Billed annually |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | $49 | $39 | $29 |
| Connect | $139 | $119 | $99 |
| Grow | $199 | $169 | $149 |
The same pricing page also lists 5, 10, and 15-user prices on Connect, Grow, and Plus. This page quotes the 1-user row. You cannot subtract a location dollar from a seat dollar and get a breakeven.
Verified fact: Card processing on Jobber pricing: cards 2.9% + 30¢, Tap to Pay 2.7% + 30¢, ACH 1%, instant payouts an extra 1%.
Verified fact: Jobber’s trial is 14 days on Grow, no credit card (pricing FAQ). Skimmer’s pricing page advertises a free first month on Scaling Up. That is not a 30-day refund guarantee. Keep those offers separate.
Chemistry and offline
Verified fact: Skimmer puts the Orenda LSI calculator, LaMotte, and the route optimizer on Scaling Up and above, not Getting Started (pricing).
Verified fact: Jobber’s pool page does not claim LSI, Orenda, or LaMotte. Those features are not claimed. Connect lists job-documentation checklists on the pricing matrix. Checklists are field notes, not an LSI calculator.
Verified fact: Skimmer documents offline field use on its offline Q&A. We have not confirmed every workflow (photos, invoices, signatures) while offline.
Verified fact: Jobber’s pool page does not claim offline. Offline is not claimed.
Editorial judgment: If daily work is readings, LSI, and a stop list with weak cell service, Skimmer publishes those claims and Jobber does not. If daily work is quotes, a client hub, and mixed trades, Jobber’s published surface is the general FSM. Confirm chemistry and offline steps in a trial.
Accounting
Both products document one-way QuickBooks Online sync. The gates differ.
Verified fact: Skimmer QBO help documents one-way Skimmer to QBO. Invoices and payments sync only when paid.
Verified fact: Jobber NEW QBO help (checked 2026-09-03) documents one-way Jobber to QBO and no Desktop. The live pricing feature matrix lists QuickBooks Online sync on Connect, not Core.
Editorial judgment: Same direction, different gates. Skimmer’s gate is paid invoices. Jobber’s public-matrix gate is Connect (and up). Object lists and Desktop answers stay on the QuickBooks guide.
Who each product is for
These are fit notes against published units and documented claims. They are not awards.
Jobber is for a shop that sells pool work as one line among other home-service trades, wants client-hub booking, and can pay by seat. Core is the 1-user floor. Connect is the plan that lists QBO on the public matrix.
Jobber is not for a pool-only route that needs a claimed LSI/Orenda/LaMotte workflow or documented offline field use. Those are not claimed on Jobber’s pool page.
Skimmer is for a pool-only route that can live with per-location billing and wants chemistry tools and a documented offline app. Model Getting Started at $49 (1–49 locations) versus Scaling Up at $98, then $160 at 80 and $300 at 150.
Skimmer is not for a mixed-trade shop that wants one general FSM and seat-based billing. Location fees climb with the route even if headcount stays flat.
Location versus technician meters are a different comparison: Skimmer vs Pool Brain. Seat versus technician: Jobber vs Pool Brain. Technician-plus-base versus location: Paythepoolman vs Skimmer. Technician-and-customer-cap versus location: Poolside vs Skimmer. Seat versus technician-and-customer-cap: Jobber vs Poolside. Seat versus headcount: Jobber vs Paythepoolman. Base-plus-tech versus active-field-tech: Paythepoolman vs Pool Brain. Per-user versus location: Pool Office Manager vs Skimmer. Per-user versus seat: Pool Office Manager vs Jobber. Solo-operator notes, forever-free plans, and QBO object lists stay on the solo-operator guide, free software guide, and QuickBooks guide.
This page does not rank a winner. Quote both at your location count and seat count, then compare the written totals.
