Pool Office Manager bills per active user. Skimmer bills per serviced location. Those meters are not interchangeable, so this page does not name a cheaper product or a winner. Figures are from vendor pages checked 2026-09-12. We have not tested either app.
Two different meters
Verified fact: POM pricing bills per active user. The first user is $125/mo. Each additional user is $25/mo. QuickBooks Online is a +$25/mo add-on. Location count is not the meter.
Verified fact: Skimmer pricing bills per serviced location per month, not per visit and not per technician. Multiple bodies of water at one address count as one location. The page states unlimited technicians and admins on Getting Started and Scaling Up.
A POM user is not a Skimmer location. You cannot subtract a seat dollar from a location dollar and get a breakeven. Headcount moves POM. Stop count does not. Location count moves Skimmer. Headcount does not.
See each Pool Office Manager and Skimmer profile for documented functions, still without a field test. Third-party operator snippets already on those profiles are not new quotes and not a PoolProStack test.
How you pay
Verified fact: Public POM pricing, 2026-09-12. Worked examples use the published seat formula. They omit unpublished fleet quotes and unpublished card fees.
| Active users | Published math | Software only | With QBO (+$25) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | First user | $125 | $150 |
| 2 | $125 + $25 | $150 | $175 |
| 3 | $125 + $25 × 2 | $175 | $200 |
| 4 | $125 + $25 × 3 | $200 | $225 |
| 5 | $125 + $25 × 4 | $225 | $250 |
Pricing is month-to-month. The same page says seasonal companies can deactivate users in the off-season. 12+ users are unpublished on that page. It says contact them for a fleet rate. This page does not invent a fleet number.
Verified fact: Public Skimmer pricing, 2026-09-12.
| Plan | What the page publishes |
|---|---|
| Getting Started | $1/location, floor $49 (49 locations included) |
| Scaling Up | $2/location, floor $98 (49 locations included) |
| Enterprise | Custom |
| Seats | Unlimited technicians and admins on both public plans |
| Processor percentage | Unpublished |
Worked examples use only the published formula. Getting Started at 1–49 locations is $49. Scaling Up at 1–49 is $98. Above the floor, Getting Started is $49 + (locations − 49) × $1. Scaling Up is $98 + (locations − 49) × $2.
| Serviced locations | Getting Started | Scaling Up |
|---|---|---|
| 1–49 | $49 | $98 |
| 80 | $80 | $160 |
| 150 | $150 | $300 |
Verified fact: The Skimmer help FAQ confirms the same floor formula at 80 locations: about $80 on Getting Started and about $160 on Scaling Up. That is confirmation of the published math, not a promo.
Units side by side
| Pool Office Manager | Skimmer | |
|---|---|---|
| Billable unit | Active user. Seat meter. | Serviced location / month. Location meter. |
| What counts as one unit | One person using the software | One address (multiple bodies still one location); not per visit |
| Published 1-unit rate | $125/mo first user. $25/mo each additional. QBO +$25/mo | Getting Started $49 floor then $1/location. Scaling Up $98 floor then $2/location |
| What moves the bill | Each additional active user, plus the QBO add-on | Each additional serviced location, or a plan jump |
| What does not move the bill | Location count | Technician or admin count |
| Office / admin seats | Count as users on the published formula | Unlimited admins stated on both public plans |
| First-month offer | Free trial advertised. Day count unpublished | Scaling Up first month free (promo). Separate 30-day money-back. Not list floors |
| Feature gate on price | QBO is +$25/mo. Chemistry and routing sit on the same public platform copy | Orenda LSI, LaMotte, Route Optimization, and unlimited service texts sit on Scaling Up+ |
| Processor / payment fee | Stripe named on pricing. Processor percentage unpublished | Processor percentage unpublished |
| SMS | Texts claimed. Unit price unpublished | Getting Started Service Texts $0.029/msg. Unlimited service texts on Scaling Up+ |
| Fleet / volume quote | 12+ unpublished | Enterprise custom |
Do not read those rows as a ranking. A 3-user POM shop is not an 80-location Skimmer shop.
Chemistry, routing, offline, GPS, payments, QuickBooks, and SMS
These are published claims, not a field test.
Verified fact: POM’s chemical calculator claims instant dosage from entered readings and a Before/After LSI calculator. The fetched page does not name Orenda or LaMotte.
Verified fact: Skimmer puts the Orenda LSI calculator, LaMotte, and Route Optimization on Scaling Up and above, not Getting Started (pricing). Getting Started lists a Route Builder.
Verified fact: POM pricing claims route maps and schedule optimization. Features repeat real-time route management and building optimal routes. Those pages do not publish a separate route upsell.
Verified fact: POM pricing says mobile apps work without internet. Features claim offline-first field tools. We have not confirmed every workflow (photos, invoices, signatures) while offline.
Verified fact: Skimmer documents offline field use on its help FAQ and marketing pages. We have not confirmed every workflow while offline.
Verified fact: POM features claim GPS check-ins and tracking. Inventory, quotes, contracts, and e-signatures are claimed on the same features page.
Unverified: Skimmer GPS versus POM GPS is a GAP. Public Skimmer pages used on this site describe route progress, not continuous fleet GPS. Do not treat those as the same claim. See the GPS guide.
Verified fact: POM pricing names Stripe. A processor percentage is not published on the fetched pricing or features pages. Ignore inventing one.
Unverified: Skimmer processor percentage is unpublished. Treat it as a GAP. Ignore inventing a rate.
Verified fact: POM features claim QuickBooks two-way sync. Pricing lists QuickBooks Integration at +$25/mo and says the product works with QuickBooks Desktop. Vendor FAQ language already recorded on this site states Desktop is one-way POM to Desktop, batch. Object lists stay on the QuickBooks guide.
Verified fact: Skimmer QBO help documents one-way Skimmer to QBO. Paid invoices trigger the sync. No Desktop direct path is claimed there.
Unverified: POM SMS unit price is unpublished on the fetched pricing and features pages. Features claim text quotes and texts to customers. Ignore inventing a per-message rate.
Verified fact: Skimmer pricing lists Service Texts at $0.029/message on Getting Started. Unlimited service texts sit on Scaling Up and above.
Editorial judgment: If daily work is Orenda, LaMotte, and a one-click optimizer, Skimmer publishes those on Scaling Up. POM publishes an LSI calculator without those brand names. If daily work needs a claimed live GPS pin, POM publishes a GPS claim and Skimmer’s public GPS copy is a GAP against that. If the constraint is seat count, POM’s $125 + $25 formula is the one that moves. If the constraint is stop count, Skimmer’s $1 / $2 location formula is the one that moves. Confirm chemistry, routing, offline, GPS, payments, SMS, and QuickBooks in a trial.
Trials, fees, and activation
Verified fact: POM pricing still prints $500 Activation Fee to get started - WAIVED UNTIL 2/15/26. This page fetched that text on 2026-09-12. The printed waiver date is past. Status is a GAP. We do not say the fee is charged. We do not say it is waived. Confirm with the vendor.
Verified fact: POM advertises a free trial on the fetched pricing and features pages. A day count is not stated there.
Verified fact: Skimmer pricing advertises a free first month on Scaling Up and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Those are promos. They are not the list floors used in the tables above. The help FAQ describes a first month at $49. Those are different offers. This page does not merge them.
Who each product is for
These are fit notes against published units and documented claims. They are not awards.
Pool Office Manager is for a shop that can live with a per-user bill, wants claimed inventory, quotes, contracts, an LSI calculator, offline field tools, and a named QBO fee, and can accept unpublished card fees, unpublished SMS rates, and an activation-fee GAP.
Pool Office Manager is not for a shop that needs published Orenda or LaMotte, a published fleet rate tonight, or a location meter. The first user is $125/mo before QBO.
Skimmer is for a pool-only route that can live with per-location billing, wants Orenda, LaMotte, and Route Optimization on Scaling Up, and can accept unlimited seats that do not move the software bill.
Skimmer is not for a shop that wants a published two-way QBO path or a published Desktop sync. Location fees climb with the route even if headcount stays flat.
Seat versus seat (Jobber): Pool Office Manager vs Jobber. Per-user versus technician: Pool Office Manager vs Pool Brain. Per-user versus base-plus-tech: Pool Office Manager vs Paythepoolman. Per-user versus technician-and-customer-cap: Pool Office Manager vs Poolside. Seat versus location (Jobber): Jobber vs Skimmer. Headcount versus location: Paythepoolman vs Skimmer. Technician-and-customer-cap versus location: Poolside vs Skimmer. Location versus technician: Skimmer vs Pool Brain. Solo-operator notes, forever-free plans, chemistry, routes, GPS, and QBO object lists stay on the solo-operator guide, small-team guide, free software guide, chemical tracking guide, route optimization guide, GPS guide, and QuickBooks guide.
Questions for sales or a trial
- POM: at my active-user count, is the monthly total still $125 + $25 × extra users, and is QBO still +$25?
- POM: does the $500 activation fee apply after 2026-02-15, or is another waiver in writing?
- POM: which offline workflows (photos, invoices, signatures) work without cell service?
- POM: what objects move in the QBO two-way sync, and is Desktop still one-way POM to Desktop, batch?
- POM: what is the Stripe processor percentage, the SMS unit price, and the 12+ fleet rate?
- Skimmer: at my serviced-location count, am I on Getting Started or Scaling Up, and is a location still one address if I visit weekly?
- Skimmer: which first-month offer is on my quote, Scaling Up free, the $49 help-FAQ month, or the 30-day refund, and what is month two?
- Skimmer: which GPS claim applies to my account, route progress or a live truck pin, and what is the processor percentage?
- Both: what is included in that total (texts, payments, GPS), and what happens to my data if I cancel?
What we are not claiming
This page does not rank a winner. We have not tested either app. We are not treating a POM user as a Skimmer location. We are not inventing a fleet rate for 12+ POM users. We are not inventing a processor percentage for either product. We are not inventing a POM SMS unit price. We are not declaring the $500 activation fee charged or waived. We are not inventing Orenda or LaMotte for POM. We are not inventing continuous Skimmer GPS. We are not merging Skimmer’s first-month offers into the list floors. We are not using promo months as ongoing price. We do not earn commissions from these vendors.
Ask for written totals at your user count and your location count. Then trial the chemistry step, the offline stop, and the QuickBooks objects on the same week of invoices.
