Live GPS is not a progress chip, and opening Maps is not a fleet track. This page records what vendor help and pricing pages published about continuous location, historical GPS, speed alerts, and plan gates as of 2026-09-06. No ranked winner. We have not tested these apps.
Scout brief (2026-09-06): Primary pages only. Skimmer help and marketing describe live route progress, not continuous GPS. Pool Brain help documents job-status chips on a map, device GPS to open a stop or optimize from the tech’s current location, and truck records without live location. POM’s home and free-trial pages claim integrated live GPS; the free-trial page also claims historical records. Paythepoolman features and home list GPS, map-image proof, and speed alerts; an August 17, 2024 article gates employee GPS to Plus. Jobber help splits app waypoints from FleetSharp hardware GPS. Optimizer mechanics stay on the route optimization guide.
What GPS tracking means here
Verified fact: Help pages beat marketing copy when they conflict. “Not claimed” means the cited page does not make the claim. It is not proof the feature is absent.
Continuous GPS. Live vehicle or technician position that updates while the truck is between stops.
Progress-on-map. Status chips or bars (Not Started, In Progress, completed stop counts). That is a schedule view.
Historical GPS. Stored breadcrumbs, route replays, or location/time reports after the day ends.
Speed alerts. A published MPH or speeding notice. A speed readout on a live map is not automatically an alert.
Timeclock-on-route. Clock-in or visit-timer waypoints logged when a tech taps the app. Jobber help says that is not live employee tracking.
Turn-by-turn. Opening Google or Apple Maps from a stop is navigation, not fleet GPS.
Optimizer. Reordering stops for drive time or distance. That buying job stays on the route optimization guide.
Units stay on the solo-operator guide, the small-team guide, and the pricing guide. Category cards: /best/gps-tracking.
Editorial judgment: Buy the definition you will run at 10 a.m. A progress dashboard will not show whether a truck is still on the highway.
Published claims (2026-09-06)
Verified fact: Help, features, and pricing pages checked 2026-09-06. Empty or “not claimed” cells are unpublished on those pages, not guessed. Jobber’s marketing GPS page and pricing HTML were Cloudflare-blocked or timed out on this fetch; FleetSharp and Connect help loaded.

Product notes
Skimmer. Route Dashboard help (Tiers: All; last updated 2026-09-04) is a schedule and map of stops: tech route, completed-service info, refresh for new service detail, pin colors. Home help adds per-tech progress bars, estimated finish, a stop-by-stop timeline, and a “technicians running late” card (more than 10 minutes past scheduled start). Features and the operations-manager page call this live progress and real-time visibility. The operations FAQ says techs get turn-by-turn on mapped routes. None of those pages claim continuous vehicle GPS, historical breadcrumbs, or speed alerts. Pricing lists Route Builder, Route Dashboard, and (on Scaling Up) Route Optimizer. There is no GPS row.
Pool Brain. Features advertise “Real time progress indicators,” not GPS. The 2020 routing update names the chips: Not Started, In Progress, Completed, No Access. The same article says the app can let GPS pull up property info, open Google or Apple Maps from the address, and optimize from the tech’s location. Optimizing routes repeats app optimize from current physical location unless the office locked the route. Create and edit trucks stores make, VIN, assignment, photos, and activity history for inventory. It does not document a live truck pin. Directory filter is partial after this check. Pricing still leads with all features at $65 per active field technician. This page does not invent a solo monthly total.
POM. The home page has a GPS Tracking block: “POM’s integrated GPS gives you real-time visibility into technician locations, completed stops, and upcoming jobs.” The free-trial page claims “Live GPS tracking and historical records” under scheduling. The route-software page is the optimizer and map article (Google Route Optimizer, drag-and-drop, real-time progress). It does not repeat the live-GPS sentence. Speed alerts are unpublished. Pricing is $125 first user, $25 each additional, QuickBooks +$25/mo. No separate GPS add-on is named. The page still prints “$500 Activation Fee to get started - WAIVED UNTIL 2/15/26.” That waiver date is past. We do not say the fee is waived, and we do not say it is charged.
Paythepoolman. Features list technician route/progress tracking, map images as proof of service, MPH speed-violation alerts, and custom activity reports. Home repeats GPS tracking, map-image proof, and “GPS Employee Tracking” tied to accounting for employee time, plus a built-in timeclock. The August 17, 2024 article is more specific: real-time locations, reports of locations/times/routes, speed in mph, no third-party tracker, toggle in Employee Center, “included at no extra cost as part of your Paythepoolman Plus subscription.” Features still name Plus for Orenda (“included FREE with Plus”) and do not label the GPS block Plus. Ask which sentence is current. Plus dollars are unpublished. Home calculator (fetched 2026-09-06): $50 base + $15 per additional tech; one tech $65/mo. That is the software seat, not a GPS SKU.
Jobber. Two published products. FleetSharp help (updated 2026-09-02) documents a plug-in SIM tracker, App Marketplace connect, new schedule map, and a vehicle overlay: driving/idle/off, nearest address, current speed and direction, fuel, battery, last updated. Devices ship in 5 to 7 business days. A nightly update populates a newly linked vehicle on the Jobber map the following day. That sentence is about first appearance after setup, not a claim that live pings run once a day. More reports (route replays, idling, safety) sit on FleetSharp’s site. Availability: “select plans” in the United States and Canada. The Connect plan article (updated 2026-08-13) lists “Live GPS tracking powered by FleetSharp” among Connect features. Location-timer help says location timers are not an employee tracking service and that live location is not shared; GPS waypoints log on select plans at clock-in/out, visit timers, notes/attachments, and completed visits. The GPS marketing page was Cloudflare-blocked on 2026-09-06; the 2026-09-05 route guide recorded the same waypoint-versus-FleetSharp split there. Pricing did not return HTML on this fetch. Do not treat older 1-user dollars as checked today.
Fit notes (not a ranking)
These are operating-model notes against the table. Seed profiles are linked.
Need a moving truck pin. POM’s home/free-trial pages and Paythepoolman’s features/Plus article claim live technician GPS. Jobber publishes that pin through FleetSharp hardware, not the phone app. Skimmer and Pool Brain do not publish continuous fleet GPS on the cited pages.
Progress is enough. Skimmer’s dashboard and Home, and Pool Brain’s status chips, are built for “has this stop started.” That is the cheaper definition if you do not need a breadcrumb.
Speed or history as the buying reason. Paythepoolman features name MPH alerts. POM’s free-trial page names historical records; speed is unpublished. Jobber points historical replays at FleetSharp’s own reports. Skimmer and Pool Brain: not claimed.
Phone GPS versus a puck in the truck. Jobber FleetSharp is a vehicle device plus a FleetSharp subscription. Paythepoolman’s 2024 article says the Plus app is the tracker. POM does not publish hardware versus phone on the cited pages. Pool Brain’s “GPS” sentences are property lookup, navigation, and optimize-from-here.
Optimizer is a different SKU. Skimmer’s Scaling Up optimizer and Jobber’s anytime-visit optimize do not become fleet GPS. Details: route optimization guide. Seat versus location math: Jobber vs Skimmer. Location versus technician meters: Skimmer vs Pool Brain. Base-plus-tech versus location: Paythepoolman vs Skimmer. Technician-and-customer-cap versus location: Poolside vs Skimmer.
Questions before you sign
- On my plan, is the claim continuous GPS, progress chips, waypoints, or a third-party puck?
- Can I see a truck between stops, or only after a clock-in or completed visit?
- Are historical breadcrumbs or route replays in the same product, and for how many days?
- Do speed alerts exist, what threshold, and who gets them?
- For Skimmer: am I buying Route Dashboard progress, and is that enough?
- For Pool Brain: are the map chips the whole “GPS” story, and does app optimize-from-location match what I need?
- For POM: is live GPS on the same plan as the map, and what does “historical records” store?
- For Paythepoolman: is GPS on the base seat or Plus, and can I toggle it per tech in Employee Center?
- For Jobber: am I on Connect or above, do I already pay FleetSharp, and am I confusing waypoints with live GPS?
- For every product: what happens when a phone is offline, a tech uses a personal car, or two techs share a truck?
What we are not claiming
We have not ridden along with a tracker. We are not naming a winner. We are not treating a missing claim as proof a feature is absent. We are not inventing Skimmer or Pool Brain continuous GPS. We are not publishing a Pool Brain solo monthly total. We are not treating POM’s 2/15/26 activation-fee waiver as current. We are not resolving Paythepoolman’s Plus-versus-features GPS gate, and we are not inventing Plus dollars. We are not asserting Jobber Core includes FleetSharp, a FleetSharp device price, or that the nightly Jobber map update is the live ping interval. Jobber pricing HTML was not retrieved on 2026-09-06.
