# Best Pool Service Software with QuickBooks

What pool service vendors published about QuickBooks Online and Desktop as of 2026-09-03. Direction, objects, and fees from primary pages. No winner.

"Works with QuickBooks" is not one feature. Edition, sync direction, and whether unpaid invoices move all change the books. This page records what vendor help and pricing pages published on 2026-09-03. No ranked winner. We have not tested these syncs.

## What "works with QuickBooks" means

> **Verified fact:** QuickBooks **Online** (QBO) is a cloud company file. QuickBooks **Desktop** is a different product. A vendor that documents QBO is not documenting Desktop unless it says so.

> **Verified fact:** **One-way** means records created in the pool app are sent to QuickBooks. Edits a bookkeeper makes in QuickBooks do not reliably come back. **Two-way** means listed objects can move in both directions, still with exceptions the vendor names.

> **Verified fact:** **Paid-only invoice sync** means an unpaid invoice stays in the pool app until a payment is recorded. Skimmer help states invoices and payments sync only when paid. That is a bookkeeping delay, not a "sync is broken" rumor.

Automatic usually means a toggle or an always-on connection after setup. It does not mean every object, every status, or Desktop.

## Decision filters

Use these three questions before you compare monthly software cost.

**Do you have to stay on QuickBooks Desktop?** Only [Pool Office Manager](/vendors/pool-office-manager) documents Desktop in this set (one-way POM to Desktop, batch). [Jobber](/vendors/jobber) help says no Desktop sync. [Skimmer](/vendors/skimmer) does not claim Desktop. [Pool Brain](/vendors/pool-brain) help is QBO only. Pool Founder says Online only, with Desktop described as third-party language. If Desktop is required, most of this list is out.

**Does the bookkeeper edit customers, invoices, or payments inside QBO?** Then one-way tools (Skimmer, Jobber's ongoing sync) will not bring those edits back. Pool Brain documents two-way with exceptions, including bundle-line invoices that do not take QBO edits back. POM documents two-way for named objects. Pool Founder claims two-way. PSS claims payments on either side and does not publish a full field map.

**Can you bill customers if you never connect QuickBooks?** Skimmer, Pool Brain, POM (native billing plus Stripe), Paythepoolman, and PSS (Stripe) document billing without QBO. Poolside has no public QBO claim; billing integrations there are unpublished.

> **Editorial judgment:** Pick the edition and direction first. A cheaper subscription that cannot keep Desktop, or that drops unpaid invoices, is not a savings.

## Product notes

These are fit notes against the table, not awards.

**Skimmer.** Use it if QBO is a write-out from the route app and you can live with unpaid invoices staying in Skimmer. Help documents one-way, automatic sync of the objects above. Pricing does not state a QBO add-on. Confirm whether your bookkeeper needs those unpaid invoices in QBO the same day.

**Pool Brain.** Use it if you want documented two-way QBO and you will ask about bundles. The help article names the objects and the bundle-line exception. The sync fee is unspecified. Billing without QBO is explicit on the vendor site.

**Pool Office Manager.** Use it if you need a named QBO fee and a Desktop path. QBO is two-way for customers, invoices, items, and payment status, automatic, at +$25/mo. Base list price on the pricing page is $125 for the first user and $25 per additional user. Desktop is one-way POM to Desktop, batch. Native billing and Stripe are documented.

**Jobber.** Use it if pool work is one line among other trades and you accept one-way Jobber to QBO after an optional one-time import. Help lists the objects above and says the integration is on select plans without naming the gate. [Jobber's pool industry page](https://www.getjobber.com/industries/pool-service-software) is marketing, not a second sync spec. Do not take a rival "two-way Jobber" chart over Jobber help.

**Pool Founder.** New-candidate, self-claims only. The [vendor QBO page](https://www.poolfounder.com/pool-service-software-quickbooks) claims two-way real-time for customers, invoices, payments, and credits, Online only, Desktop via third-party language, fee unspecified. We did not use its competitor table about other products.

**PSS.** [PSS](https://www.poolservice.software/) and the [FAQ](https://poolservice.software/faq) describe a QBO client import, invoices sent or linked to QBO, and payments claimed from either side. The full two-way field map is unpublished, so direction is only partly specified. Fee unspecified. Native Stripe billing is documented.

**Paythepoolman (thin / unverified).** The [homepage](https://www.paythepoolman.com/) both lists QuickBooks Integrations and says goodbye to QuickBooks. There is no dedicated sync page. We do not publish a confirmed sync. Native billing is documented. Any homepage badge is unverified.

**Poolside.** The [Poolside profile](/vendors/poolside) and [pricing](https://trypoolside.com/pricing) list QuickBooks sync on Pro and Enterprise only. [Privacy](https://trypoolside.com/privacy) names customers, items, invoices, payments, and expenses via OAuth. Direction and Desktop are unpublished. Processor percentage unpublished. Do not invent direction or Desktop.

## Questions for a trial

1. Online or Desktop, and is Desktop in writing if I need it?
2. After go-live, is the sync one-way or two-way for customers, invoices, and payments?
3. Do unpaid invoices sit in your app until they are paid, as Skimmer documents?
4. If my bookkeeper edits a bundle invoice or a customer in QBO, what comes back?
5. What is the monthly QBO fee on my plan, and which plan includes the sync?
6. Can I invoice and take cards if I never connect QuickBooks?
7. For Paythepoolman: which homepage sentence is current, and where is the sync spec?
8. What happens to historical invoices if I disconnect?

## What we are not claiming

We have not connected any of these apps to a live QuickBooks company file. We are not ranking a winner. We are not using Pool Founder's rival chart or any third-party table that calls Jobber two-way. Paythepoolman remains unresolved. Poolside remains unpublished.
