Pool Office Manager bills per active user. Poolside bills flat tiers locked by technician and customer caps. Those meters are not interchangeable, so this page does not name a cheaper product or a winner. Figures are from vendor pages checked 2026-09-16. We have not tested either app.

## Two different meters

> **Verified fact:** [POM pricing](https://poolofficemanager.com/pricing) bills per **active user**. The first user is **$125/mo**. Each additional user is **$25/mo**. QuickBooks Online is a **+$25/mo** add-on. Location count is not the meter.

> **Verified fact:** [Poolside pricing](https://trypoolside.com/pricing) publishes **flat monthly tiers** locked by **active technician count and customer count**. Starter is 1 technician and up to 50 customers at **$29.99/mo**. Growth is up to 2 technicians and 125 customers at **$59.99/mo**. Pro is up to 5 technicians and 300 customers at **$99.99/mo**. Enterprise prints Custom / Custom Pricing on the fetched objects. This page phrases that unpublished dollar amount as **Request pricing**.

A POM user is not a Poolside technician, and a POM user is not a Poolside customer. You cannot subtract a seat dollar from a tier dollar and get a breakeven. Headcount of people using POM moves the POM bill, including office seats. Crossing a tech cap or a customer cap jumps the whole Poolside shop to the next published tier.

See each [Pool Office Manager](/vendors/pool-office-manager) and [Poolside](/vendors/poolside) profile for documented functions, still without a field test. Third-party operator snippets already on those profiles are not new quotes and not a PoolProStack test.

## How you pay

> **Verified fact:** Public [POM pricing](https://poolofficemanager.com/pricing), 2026-09-16. Worked examples use the published seat formula. They omit unpublished fleet quotes and unpublished card fees. The fetched HTML prints the published examples **2 users = $150/month** and **4 users = $200/month**.

| Active users | Published math | Software only | With QBO (+$25) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | First user | $125 | $150 |
| 2 | $125 + $25 | $150 | $175 |
| 3 | $125 + $25 × 2 | $175 | $200 |
| 4 | $125 + $25 × 3 | $200 | $225 |
| 5 | $125 + $25 × 4 | $225 | $250 |

Pricing is month-to-month. The same page says seasonal companies can deactivate users in the off-season. It claims unlimited customers, jobs, and pictures. **12+ users** are unpublished on that page. It says contact them for a fleet rate. This page does not invent a fleet number.

> **Verified fact:** The [POM pricing](https://poolofficemanager.com/pricing) meta description, fetched 2026-09-16, states a free **30-day** trial with **no card**. The pricing body advertises a free trial without restating the day count. Home copy also says "Get Started with a 30-Day Free Trial."

> **Verified fact:** Public [Poolside pricing](https://trypoolside.com/pricing), 2026-09-16. The public site is a client-rendered app. The same list cards also print on the fetched [home](https://trypoolside.com/) HTML. Worked examples use the published list price. The 50% first-month promo is not the ongoing floor.

| Plan | List price | Technician cap | Customer cap | Published on that tier |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Starter | $29.99/mo | 1 | 50 | Route management and maps; email and SMS; Quotes and Stripe pay-links; basic invoicing |
| Growth | $59.99/mo | 2 | 125 | Smart route optimization; per-pool P&L; card on file and in-app charging |
| Pro | $99.99/mo | 5 | 300 | Company-wide P&L; QuickBooks sync; failed-message tracking |
| Enterprise | Request pricing | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited on both caps |

> **Verified fact:** The same pricing objects advertise **50% off the first month** on paid plans, no long-term contract, and cancel anytime. That promo is a first-month discount. It is not a free trial and not the month-two price. The fetched home, pricing, features, and FAQ pages do not advertise a free trial.

> **Verified fact:** The pricing FAQ question "Do you offer annual billing?" answers: reach out and they will set up annual billing or a custom Enterprise plan. **No annual rate is published.** This page does not invent one.

## Same-shop cells

These cells apply published formulas only. POM "active users" and Poolside "technicians" plus "customers" are different units. Optional add-ons are excluded except the named POM QBO add-on. The Poolside 50% first month is excluded.

| Shop shape | POM (no QBO) | POM (+ QBO $25) | Poolside list |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 POM user / 1 tech / ≤50 customers | $125 | $150 | $29.99 (Starter) |
| 1 POM user / 1 tech / 51–125 customers | $125 | $150 | $59.99 (Growth; Starter caps customers at 50) |
| 2 POM users / 2 techs / ≤125 customers | $150 | $175 | $59.99 (Growth) |
| 3 POM users / 3 techs | $175 | $200 | $99.99 (Pro; Growth caps techs at 2) |
| 5 POM users / 5 techs / ≤300 customers | $225 | $250 | $99.99 (Pro) |
| 6+ techs | $125 + $25 × extra users | That total + $25 | Request pricing |

> **Editorial judgment:** Read the cells as two meters, not a ranking. At one headcount on each published formula, inside 50 customers, Poolside list ($29.99) is lower than POM ($125) before add-ons. That is arithmetic, not a winner. A shop with many office seats and one field tech can look expensive on POM and stay on Poolside Starter, or the reverse when every worker is a field tech and the route crosses 50 customers. Crossing a Poolside cap jumps the whole shop. Each extra POM user adds $25. Get both quotes.

## Units side by side

| | [Pool Office Manager](/vendors/pool-office-manager) | [Poolside](/vendors/poolside) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Billable unit | Active user. Seat meter. | Flat tier (technician cap + customer cap) |
| What counts as one unit | One person using the software | One active technician and one customer, per the pricing FAQ |
| Published 1-unit rate | $125/mo first user. $25/mo each additional. QBO +$25/mo | Starter $29.99 (1 tech, ≤50 customers). Growth $59.99 (≤2 / ≤125). Pro $99.99 (≤5 / ≤300). Enterprise: Request pricing |
| What moves the bill | Each additional active user, plus the QBO add-on | Crossing a tech cap or a customer cap jumps the shop to the next tier |
| What does not move the bill | Location or customer count | Extra stops at one customer inside a customer cap |
| Office / admin seats | Count as users on the published formula | Not a separate published seat fee |
| Seasonal cost control | Deactivate users off-season (vendor claim) | Not marketed as seasonal seat deactivation on fetched pages |
| First-month offer | Meta and home: 30-day free trial, no card on meta. Pricing body: free trial without a day count | 50% off list. Not a free trial. Not the ongoing floor |
| Annual rate | Not used on this page | Unpublished. FAQ says reach out |
| Feature gate on price | QBO is +$25/mo. Chemistry, routing, inventory, and GPS sit on the same public platform copy | Optimizer, per-pool P&L, Stripe tools, and QuickBooks sit on different tiers |
| Processor / payment fee | Stripe named on pricing. Processor percentage unpublished | Stripe pay-links on Starter; card on file on Growth. Processor percentage unpublished |
| SMS | Texts claimed. Unit price unpublished | Email and SMS listed on Starter. Unit price unpublished |
| Customer count cap | Unlimited customers claimed | Starter 50 / Growth 125 / Pro 300 / Enterprise unlimited |
| Fleet / volume quote | 12+ unpublished | Enterprise: Request pricing |
| Activation | Unpublished on the fetched 2026-09-16 pricing HTML. Status is a **GAP**. This page does not print a dollar amount. | Not a published activation line on the fetched home or pricing objects |

Do not read those rows as a ranking. A 1-user POM shop is not a 1-tech Poolside shop.

## Chemistry, routing, offline, GPS, payments, and QuickBooks

These are published claims, not a field test.

> **Verified fact:** [POM's chemical calculator](https://poolofficemanager.com/pool-chemical-calculator) claims instant dosage from entered readings and a Before/After **LSI** calculator. Fetched POM home, pricing, features, and chemical-calculator pages do not name Orenda or LaMotte.

> **Verified fact:** [Poolside home](https://trypoolside.com/) lists **chemical readings** in the technician app. The pricing feature lists and the fetched home, features, and FAQ pages do not name Orenda, an LSI calculator, or LaMotte. Treat those as unpublished.

> **Verified fact:** [POM pricing](https://poolofficemanager.com/pricing) claims route maps and schedule optimization. [Features](https://poolofficemanager.com/features) repeat real-time route management and building optimal routes. Those pages do not publish a separate route upsell.

> **Verified fact:** Poolside Starter lists **route management and maps**. **Smart route optimization** and **per-pool P&L** sit on Growth and above ([pricing](https://trypoolside.com/pricing)).

> **Verified fact:** [POM home](https://poolofficemanager.com/) and [features](https://poolofficemanager.com/features) claim inventory: chemicals and parts by tech, truck, warehouse, or customer, with barcode scanning on features. Quotes, e-signatures, contracts, and repair/one-off jobs are claimed on the same public pages.

> **Verified fact:** Poolside Pro lists a **parts catalog and bulk import**. Company-wide P&L sits on Pro. Those are published catalog and reporting claims, not a POM-style warehouse inventory pillar on the fetched pages.

> **Verified fact:** [POM pricing](https://poolofficemanager.com/pricing) says mobile apps work without internet. [Features](https://poolofficemanager.com/features) claim offline-first field tools. We have not confirmed every workflow (photos, invoices, signatures) while offline.

> **Verified fact:** [Poolside home](https://trypoolside.com/) and the [FAQ](https://trypoolside.com/faq) claim the technician app works offline: complete stops, capture photos, and log service without a signal, then sync when back in range. We have not confirmed every workflow (invoices, signatures) while offline.

> **Verified fact:** [POM features](https://poolofficemanager.com/features) claim GPS check-ins and tracking. Home copy repeats real-time technician locations.

> **Unverified:** The string "GPS tracking" was **not found** on fetched Poolside home, pricing, or FAQ objects (2026-09-16). Treat GPS tracking as unpublished. **GAP.** See the [GPS guide](/guides/pool-service-software-with-gps-tracking).

> **Verified fact:** [POM pricing](https://poolofficemanager.com/pricing) names Stripe. A processor percentage is not published on the fetched pricing or features pages. Ignore inventing one.

> **Verified fact:** Poolside Starter lists **Quotes and Stripe pay-links**. Growth adds **card on file and in-app charging**. A processor percentage is not published on the fetched pricing, home, or features pages.

> **Verified fact:** [POM features](https://poolofficemanager.com/features) claim **QuickBooks two-way** sync. [Pricing](https://poolofficemanager.com/pricing) lists QuickBooks Integration at **+$25/mo** and says the product works with QuickBooks Desktop. The [home FAQ](https://poolofficemanager.com/) states Desktop is **one-way POM to Desktop**, batch. Object lists stay on the [QuickBooks guide](/guides/best-pool-service-software-with-quickbooks).

> **Verified fact:** Poolside's pricing matrix lists **QuickBooks sync on Pro and Enterprise**, not Starter or Growth. The [FAQ](https://trypoolside.com/faq) says "Connect QuickBooks to keep your books in sync." [Privacy](https://trypoolside.com/privacy) names Intuit QuickBooks Online and says the product syncs accounting records such as **customers, items, invoices, payments, and expenses** via OAuth. Direction and Desktop are unpublished. This page does not invent either.

> **Unverified:** POM SMS unit price is unpublished on the fetched pricing and features pages. Features claim email or text door hangers and notices. Ignore inventing a per-message rate.

> **Unverified:** Poolside lists email and SMS on Starter. A per-message or per-thread SMS price is not published on the fetched pricing, home, features, or FAQ pages. **GAP.**

> **Editorial judgment:** If daily work is a published LSI calculator, claimed inventory, contracts, offline field apps, a claimed GPS pin, and a named two-way QBO fee, POM publishes those claims. If daily work is a $29.99 1-tech list inside 50 customers, claimed chemical readings, a claimed offline tech app, and smart routing on Growth+, Poolside publishes those claims, with Orenda, LSI, LaMotte, GPS, and QBO direction still unpublished. Confirm chemistry, routing, offline, GPS, payments, SMS, and QuickBooks in a trial.

## Who each product is for

These are fit notes against published units and documented claims. They are not awards.

**Pool Office Manager is for** a pool-only shop that can live with a per-user bill, wants claimed inventory, quotes, contracts, an LSI calculator, offline field tools, a claimed GPS pin, and a named two-way QBO fee, and can accept unpublished card fees, unpublished SMS rates, and an unpublished activation line.

**Pool Office Manager is not for** a shop that needs published Orenda or LaMotte, a published fleet rate tonight, or a technician-and-customer-cap meter. The first user is $125/mo before QBO.

**Poolside is for** a pool route that can live inside a technician cap and a customer cap, wants claimed chemical readings and a claimed offline app, and can accept unpublished card fees, unpublished SMS rates, unpublished GPS, and an unpublished QuickBooks direction.

**Poolside is not for** a shop that needs published Orenda, LSI, or LaMotte, a published GPS string, or a published annual rate tonight. Starter also stops at 1 technician and 50 customers.

## Questions for sales or a trial

1. POM: at my active-user count, is the monthly total still $125 + $25 × extra users, and is QBO still +$25?
2. POM: is any activation charge in writing for my account, or is that line still unpublished?
3. POM: which offline workflows (photos, invoices, signatures) work without cell service?
4. POM: what objects move in the QBO two-way sync, and is Desktop still one-way POM to Desktop, batch?
5. POM: what is the Stripe processor percentage, the SMS unit price, and the 12+ fleet rate?
6. Poolside: at my technician count and customer count, which list tier am I on, and is month two still $29.99 / $59.99 / $99.99 after the 50% first month?
7. Poolside: is a customer still one customer if I visit weekly, and do multiple bodies at one address count as one customer or two?
8. Poolside: which offline workflows (photos, invoices, signatures) work without cell service?
9. Poolside: what objects move in the Pro QuickBooks sync, in which direction, and does Desktop work?
10. Both: what is included in that total (texts, payments, GPS), and what happens to my data if I cancel?

## What we are not claiming

This page does not rank a winner. We have not tested either app. We are not treating a POM user as a Poolside technician or customer. We are not inventing a seat-versus-tier breakeven. We are not inventing a fleet rate for 12+ POM users. We are not inventing a processor percentage for either product. We are not inventing a POM SMS unit price or a Poolside SMS unit price. We are not printing an activation-fee dollar amount; that line was unpublished on the fetched 2026-09-16 pricing HTML. We are not inventing Orenda or LaMotte for either product. We are not inventing a Poolside GPS claim. We are not inventing a Poolside QuickBooks direction or Desktop answer. We are not applying the 50% first month to worked examples. We are not publishing a Poolside annual rate. We are not treating Custom / Custom Pricing as a dollar floor; that line is Request pricing. We do not earn commissions from these vendors.

Ask for written totals at your user count, your technician count, and your customer count. Then trial the chemistry step, the offline stop, and the QuickBooks objects on the same week of invoices.
